We're back!
Actually we came back last week, but I spent my first few days at home catching up on recent events and I was too busy weeping and breaking things to write much. Wow! Stuff sure happened! Over in Italy, we had only the murkiest of ideas of what was going on. We were all, “Hurricane, you say? Well, that’s nothing new. Evacuations? What a headache! Pass the prosciutto!” We were so ignorant. So ignorant, and so drunk.
In light of everything, it seems wrong to blather on about our lovely trip traipsing through the Italian countryside; but then, you didn’t come here to watch me rend my garments. Thus, I'll be writing more in the next few days. When I've sobered up. If I sober up.

I completely understand the weirdo feelings you are encountering right now. I was out of the country in 1993 when there was massive flooding here in the midwest. Coming back home from the airport was surreal because it looked like a war zone. AND I had JUST been in a 3rd world country for the prior 6 weeks. Eek.
We were in Spain for 9/11. Flew back to NYC on 9/17 and gaped in horror as the cab rounded the BQE facing a blackened, smoky, glowing-from-below hole in the skyline.
On a lighter note: Hooray! You're back! Had your fill of lovely cheese and wine? Can't wait to hear all about it. It will surely beat the devastating newscasts and depressingly futile commentary.
I want my money back.
but i for one - (among many obviously) are glad you are back - safe...
is it weird that i missed your dog?
Is Henry bilingual now?
