Finslippy has a new home

Welcome, readers, to my new website. Isn't it fantastic? I can say that because I had absolutely no hand in its design. When I switched to Squarespace, I begged them for design help, and they kindly hooked me up with a designer. She asked me what I wanted, and I said, "I want something that is good, and also, is not bad," but then I got carried away and I believe I burbled something about sparkles and holograms and 3-D but fortunately she had hung up on me by then. Oh, I also wanted Smell-o-vision, but I guess you can't have everything. Whatever, Squarespace.

So! Changes! You might have noticed that there's now a landing page, with links to books, video, Let's Panic About Babies!: The Site, and of course the blog. The other new features include a video link in the top nav bar, which will take you to my Herchannel page. That's another way to say Momversation, although there are related videos in there as well, and eventually when I get my act together I might create some of my own videos, which will also live there. There's also a writing link up there, where I'll put other articles and stories I've written over the years.

I spent the past few days tagging each and every one of my old blog posts, and as this blog is almost seven years old, you can imagine how much work that was. My right hand keeps involuntarily curling up into a painful spasm, but it was worth it. Because look, now I have a tag cloud! Over there on the right. No, there. Below the ads. Yep. Do you see it? There!

Poke around and let me know what you think. I hope you love it as much as I do.

p.s. Seriously, I absolutely loved working on your site. :)

I love it. It looks amazing. The color, the layout, everything, it's wonderful! Clicked on the video page though and the about you says Henry is 5.

I love the new look, it's great!

Congratulations, it looks fabulous! And how stylish, the turquoise/blue will match your home! Where is that pop of red, I wonder... kidding, kidding. It's beautiful.

I always see if you are on momversation because you are my favorite there (truly), so that is also helpful for me. and I haven't checked out Panic! for such a long time, great reminder to go over there!

Also: Thank you for just doing it and not handing us a "prepare yourselves" post, a "soon to come" post, a "tomorrow, guys, tomorrow!" post, etc. That is so, well, elegant! Also: No mumbling and groaning from change haters (though i am sure very few are readers here, you have such a great group of people in comments!)

I love that you now have everything in one place! And the design is, indeed, fabulous. Good luck filling it with more and more and more content. No pressure.

Delightful. Although I have to ask: can I disable the glitter cannon? It's a pretty great feature, but now there's glitter stuck in my keyboard.

Love it!

Fan-freaking-tastic. Krystyn is responsible for the way my site looks, as well. Isn't she divine?

Congrats on the new home!

Very nice. Very modern. Very much like your persona.

November 3, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterLisa

Fancy!

Does it come in any other colors? I'd like a brown, to match my aura.

November 3, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterMarinka

Very smart and elegant. Congratulations on your new digs!

November 3, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterSarah

Congrats luv! Such a beautiful, clean look!

November 3, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterBoston Mamas

Thank you, everyone!

Marinka: we're working on having the color adust to one's aura and/or the time of day where you are. Stay tuned.

Heartworks: isn't Henry only 5? Oh, wait. SOB! SUNRISE SUNSET!

The new site is awesome! Love it!

November 3, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterGenie

Oh. So PURDEE.

I covet it.

Damn. Now I'm jealous and wanting a redesign. Damn you Alice and your pretty blog. Damn youuuuu!

Very pretty! Such an inviting layout I could while away the afternoon clicking through that cloud and re-reading from The Ghosts of Finslippy Past. (Given the blahness of what remains on today's list of to-do items, perhaps I shall....)

November 3, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterOtherSuchShelby

Wow! It looks amazing :) I love how easy it is to poke around & find things too.

November 3, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterbeth

New site looks great, congrats!!

One little annoying comment - Henry seems to be 8 on the blog page, 5 on the video page, and 5 1/5 on the about page. Huh! :-)

November 3, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnnelise

awww, so pretty. the link to the "finslippy" explanation on your about page is down. that's where I poked first.

November 3, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterkirida

Fantastic! Of course, I would read your writing even if you scrawled it with old eyeliner on a crumpled paper bag. A site that's easy on the eyes is just an added bonus!

November 3, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterRachel

Ow never mind somebody already said that - I should've just sticked with the praise !

November 3, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnnelise

Beautiful. And I appreciate being called an "author" when I comment. It makes me feel like I better edit the #$&* out of whatever I write.

Perhaps new blog design = more posts from my fave blogger? A girl can dream...

November 3, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterKerry

Very pretty! The light colored script over the light colored background makes it a little difficult to read; otherwise, it's beautiful!
