Hair update: the end!

I have many, many Redbook posts to update you on, but you guys! Look! LOOK AT MY HAIR!

Less gray than I thought it would be

This is the entirely natural color. There is no more artificial color in there.

It's entirely too short right this moment--I don't think the shorty-short bangs do much for my narrow face (I' m not fishing for compliments, here)--but within a couple of weeks I'll feel significantly less exposed. I'm so used to super-short hair that I don't stress too much over that naked-head sensation.

This is my sophisticated expression/

I want to grow my hair down to about shoulder-length now that I don't have to worry about hiding tell-tale roots and the like, but I actually love the color. It feels like me. Which it is. I am me!

Also I coordinate well with Charlie, now, and I think that's the most important thing, don't you?

don't fight it, Charlie

You look so beautiful. Of course you could have colored Charlie's hair if your goal was to match!

MARINKA LIKES IT!

Okay, my day is made.

Well done Alice! You look lovely. Enjoy the fruits of your non-labours :D

I absolutely LOVE it, Alice. It is amazing, and makes your eyes look gorgeous! Your grey hair is the kind of grey that I think people actually try to achieve through chemistry. But you don't have to. Win win.

Love the color. I have gone completely natural too after about 15 years of color and highlights and lowlights and the such.

December 21, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterApril-LivingTheSweetLife

It's beautiful. Really makes your blue eyes POP.

I love how you match your dog. I never thought of that as a bonus to surrendering to gray. Your post empowers me because I have become a serial highlighter over the years, not to avoid gray, but to deny that I am no longer the blonde I was at age five. Duh. It makes me feel weak and stupid. Especially since my oldest daughter is a lovely brunette and might possibly be wondering what the hell is so wrong with brown hair. Anywho, you are an inspiration. And I am sure your dog appreciates the nod.

Yum, the hotness. You look like a 20yr old who's streaked her hair.

I give your hair two massive thumbs up. YES.

Love it! You have inspired me to deal with my hair before Christmas - even if it means descending briefly into Mall Hell. You look amazing!

December 21, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterDesi

um, yeah, totally hot. You remind me of Jamie Lee Curtis now. Your eyes totally pop with that color!

So you just grew it out? What did you do when your hair was half and half?

December 21, 2010 | Unregistered Commentergolden

oh, it's lovely. i am inspired to stop plucking my grays and see what happens.

December 21, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterliz

OMG, that is SUCH an awesome length for you, I think you should keep your hair just like that! It's like Hermione! (ok, Emma Watson). Admittedly, my hair is also that length and also going color-free but I seriously think you look amazing with that cut (and love the gray).

December 21, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterFairly Odd Mother

It looks absolutely great!

Freaking gorgeous!!!

Golden: what'd I do when my color was half-and-half? I suffered, pretty much. It looked bad. But luckily, since my hair's pretty short, it took only a little less than 5 months to grow out the hair color.

December 21, 2010 | Unregistered Commenteralice

Oh, I LOVE this. And I like the short length too. I can't quite picture you with longer hair!

December 21, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterTwice Five Miles

I think you're hair is awesome!! You said you wanted to grow it out and I'm sure that would be lovely. It's just, I think you're totally rockin' the short hair. It looks so fantastic on you.

December 21, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterPatti

Oooh. How pretty! It's such a nice shimmery color, and really brings out your eyes. I think you look younger too.

December 21, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterApril G

It looks AMAZING. I have similar coloring and about the same amount of gray (but dyed dark, toxic brown). I think this is the inspiration I need to grow it out. Beautiful! Was there a particular salon you went to - that encouraged you with the grow-out?

December 21, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterRebecca

Sorry to chime in with unsolicited advice like my own troublesome mother in law, but I think it looks fabulous shorty short and you shouldn't grow it out. Or grow kinda surfer-like with a bowl cut long in front tucked behind the ear? That would look awesome. You are inspiring me to let my own grow free.

December 21, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterBeth

Love your natural hair color. I also grew my hair out about 3 years ago. It is soooo freeing. Enjoy the no fuss....
