Reasons I am queasy with excitement: the short version.

1. I am going to Amsterdam.

1a. With Melissa!

1b. And my dad! (Who is not going for free, so no angry letters about WHY ARE OLD MEN WITHOUT BLOGS BEING PAID TO TRAVEL)

2. We are selling our place.

3. We are moving to New Jersey.

4. We will no longer live in Brooklyn. We are doing what we said we wouldn't do.

5. We will live in a house. A nice house. We will live near our friends. We will have a yard and a good school for Henry.

6. But still! We will not live near our other friends! Why do we have to have friends! And also we won't be in Brooklyn!

7. I'm okay. I'm okay. I WILL BE OKAY.

So as you can see: I am not pregnant, nor am I rolling in money from any book deal. Yet.

I got it - you're writing a book about being pregnant.

Congrats on the move. How exciting!

And I'm jealous about the Amsterdam thing. I want to go!

You go, Alice! There's a time and place for everything, even the 'burbs. Especially when children and dogs are involved.

And trips to Amsterdam? Icing on the cake!

We moved to NJ from Brooklyn 2 years ago today for the same reasons. We're still very close to the city and Brooklyn is 1/2 hour when there's not a lot of traffic. I still cringe a little when I say we live in NJ and living in a house is nice.

YES! i heard about that over on melissa's site...i am so jealous of you guys. but seriously, how can we take issue with anyone thinking your blog is so EXCELLENT that they want to offer such an exchange? how wonderful. ;)

and also, the moving thing ALWAYS adds an exciting kind of stress, but i'm sure you will handle it well and love it. i think. i don't know. nevermind.

yay alice!

Welcome to the Garden State! I grew up there and lived there until I got married, and like Ariella, no accent here. And ownership is a plus...we're (probably) going to be leaving Southern California for the same reason.

Congratulations on the move and Amsterdam!

Jersey girl de-lurking to welcome you to the state! You'll love it :)

WHOA, so much excitement! How are you not passing out? I would have tried to make that list and just ended up with ahdkjfhakdhfk kahysoihfjkladnf adiuhfakjdhb iofyhiohwneoiurioewuih because I would have fainted from excitement and fallen flat onto my keyboard. You are obviously far more composed. And eloquent.

Amsterdam! Wow.... Isn't Heather (Dooce) involved in that, too?

Holy moly! Excitment! (And stress! but the good kind! if there is such a thing.) Say hello to the North Sea for me. It was kind of a smelly beach, the last time I was there, but I loved it anyway.

no wonder you were nauseated with ... well, nausea. I'm so glad it's all good news! Congrats on everything!

Yeee-HAH! Congrats on all counts. Can't wait to hear more and whether or not you're going for annuals or perennials. Go Garden State!

NJ? Sweet! If it weren't for being born in Jersey I wouldn't have the SSN that starts with a befuddling "1," which freaked out all the registrars around here in Great Lakes land. Marked me for life as an alien, freakish creature. Huzzah for Jersey!

Truth to tell, I know New Jersey must RAWK because now that I'm looking for houses again, my Mom's all, "This one reminds me of Maplewood" and "That one's got the floor plan of Teaneck" and "Remember West Orange?" and I'm all, "No, Mom, because that was 30 years ago, and toddlers aren't into real estate." Apparently all the GOOD houses are in New Jersey. I'll bet youse gots one. Congratulations!

Wow! What a lot of stuff for you to take in.

I suggest getting, um, some mushrooms on your salad in Amsterdam. I think it might help you to 'absorb' the other changes coming your way.

And if you could bring me back a salad with some, um, mushrooms too, that'd be great. I really like mushrooms on my salad. I haven't had a salad with mushrooms for soooo long. I used to know the farmer's market backwards and forwards, but I don't even think they LET 41 year old mothers of five into the, um, farmer's market anymore. Where the hell can I buy my mushrooms?

Oh, christ on a bike... I just really went off the deep end, huh?

congrats on amsterdam and your big moving news too.

re: Springsteenfor the longest time, I thought The Boss was referring to Jersey hookers: "tramps like us, baby we were born to run"... I assumed that they ran from the vice squad. So, y'know, don't let Henry grow up thinking Jersey is just about prositutes.

This is ALL so incredibly amazing and wonderful. Congratulations! Oh, and thanks for the tip about the magnesium. My legs still hurt, but adding that extra 37.5 in the interim has really helped so far.
