Well, I'm glad that's all over with

Everything is fine!

The last couple of days have been a thrill ride of miscommunication. First I was told that the report came back benign; then I was told actually there were two reports, and one of them wasn't in yet. THEN I was told that the second report was in but the physician on staff hadn't signed off on them yet, so they couldn't be sent over. AND THEN they were like, oh, that second report never existed. The final straw was when my GP told me that the radiologist claimed they never did a needle core biopsy. That was approximately when I lost my damn mind.

I finally got the radiologist on the phone this afternoon (having--finally, after several attempts--gotten around She Who Will Not be Named) and he confirmed that the GP was mistaken, and explained everything in the report. Then I got to tell him all about his receptionist. It was awfully satisfying.

The important part is: all is well, everything they sampled was benign, and my breasts were described on the report as "like two fawns that graze among the lilies." Which is nice and all, and startlingly accurate, but is that like a medical term or something?

Oh, sweet relief!
And utter absurdity!!!!!!!!
So glad that is finally over and you and your fawns can graze peacefully.

Now, isn't that exactly what everyone was telling you? And you just wouldn't listen, would you? Tch! But very glad to hear we were all right - and that you are, too. Yay!

Read on: the medical terms are coming in the "there is no spot on thee" part. Though that bit about being "as terrible as an army with banners" must be some receptionist vindictiveness, no?
Seriously, it's wonderful that all is well. Phew.

Congratulations Alice! So glad you got happy news...........wow, underwhelmed by the medical staff however. : /

I'm so relieved for you. This drama made me join twitter to make sure I got the news as soon as you posted.

Sweet mother of Christ. I have been checking here approximately 50 times a day (you're welcome) hoping and hoping that you're ok. I am so happy you're ok. I feel like I could vomit tears right now. I should go take a bath.

YAY!!! I'm so happy for you! What a relief to finally find out all is well. Now, go enjoy your 2013 with peace of mind!

Glad you are OK. When I needed a diagnostic mammogram I spent lots of time emphasizing that "I have an anxiety disorder and can't handle waiting for results". The radiology technician actually had the radiologist (who was thankfully there that day) read the films immediately and he came in personally to tell me that everything was OK. I was probably only saved from having a "troublesome patient" sticker placed on my chart by dissolving into tears of relief immediately on receriving the news - thus proving that I hadn't been lying to them about my mental condition.
Of course all of this doesn't help what you had to go through, but it just amazes me that the medical machine is so blase about what can be life changing news for patients.

oh i love you!

Such a relief! Like your other supporters, I've been checking daily to get news. And I'm so glad you informed the radiologist that his receptionist is substandard in numerous ways, ways that seem essential for the job.

Ugh. You're making me both want to go get my mammogram immediately and procrastinate on it longer.

I think I hear a cup of tea and a book calling; mammogram later.

WHEW!!

I just had a fortunately-benign spot removed as well, and as you know, the suspense is the ABSOLUTE WORST. Combined with the ridiculous medical incompetence in your case, and just, ugh. But I'm so glad you can relax now! I again say, WHEW! :-)

What a relief. My mom was just diagnosed with breast cancer before Thanksgiving and I'm honestly done with it. No one else is allowed to get breast cancer. Every single person reading this: imagine me frowning and pointing. None of you.

Yippie!! :)

Such good news! And I'm glad you got to expose Voldemort.

January 9, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterMariya

Glad to hear that. (And Andrea, not getting a mammogram doesn't mean there's not a problem. Just in case you didn't know that. Please, ladies, get your mammograms.)

I love this happy ending! Yay Alice!

January 9, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterDottie

Yay! May your twin fawns continue to graze side-by-side for ever more. Amen.

You are adorable, and I'm glad your results came back okay. I'm also glad you had a chance to tell on the nasty receptionist to her boss. I hope she got in trouble.

Calling off the hit.

I started following you on Twitter hoping you'd post a quick update - which you did! And now my Twitter feed has you, so win/win.

As for the receptionist...naaaaame her!

January 10, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterKira Kay

Hi Alice!

I've been following you.

Not like that! Silly. I'm very glad the lump was a benign. I was a bit worried. x

January 10, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterMillie

Phew and OMG I went through the exact same thing this past October...miscommunications and all!

Although mine aren't two fawns grazing among lilies, more like mama bears foraging for their young.

Either way, they are safe and sound.

Glad to hear yours are too!
